Light Fields Assignment / Available light on location.

by Vania Elise.  Assignment #7.

Finally, I have had a chance to post these.  I enjoyed this assignment, although it made me realize how important it is to have a team. This shoot was a bit overwhelming for me considering the fact that I had 3 models, in which I did make-up to, styled, and then had to think about what areas to shoot, as well as who was going to hold the reflector and then of course trying to get the perfect shot while feeling the pressure of sunlight leaving areas and people waiting, not to mention that I was backed up on post production for 3 models and my friends boutique that had let me borrow the clothing.  So, I felt the pressure, lesson learned.  Anyway, these are the shots that I liked the most, hopefully you all can help me out and give me feedback as to which ones you enjoy and which are portfolio worthy.  Thanks for your time!

Vania, I can feel the emotion that it provokes. You have a sense of flair to your work that is captivating. I do think your collages are well thought out and very creative. I like your use of light. Very fashion forward! Great Job!!

P.S. Would like to get together and shoot sometime. I very interested in fashion photography!

I love the wardrobe choices in these shots. I also love the level of “bizarre” in these shots. The one of the girl leaning against the wall with the lens flare thing is the closest to a portfolio piece in my opinion. Poses and camera angles are cool. Some of the shots are pushing the envelope as far as posterization – which scares me a little. It’s too harsh for my personal taste.

    Vania,
Well done on this assignment. Available lighting technique is exactly what we talked about at the class. Excellent shaping and modeling on all your subjects. The quality of the light is also well chosen and diverse. Based on results you picked up a lot from what we talked about both in class and on the field trip. As usual I love what you bring to your images in post. You really make the work jump levels. Your steep angles of attack with the camera are powerful and force the images right at your audience. Posing is strong and diverse. I recommend more thoughtful cropping…most of these images could benefit from a better balance of positive to negative space. This is one area where you seem to park…avoid getting stuck in this kind of rutt. While I like the closer crops, overall I would like to see more negative space and asymmetry within your framing.

    Kudos on this one!

Vania, great job!!! Love all of them, the collage ones are very cool, but the one I like best is the blued one. Awesome stuff!!!!
